Rosendale collective is working to buy movie theater

The Rosendale Theater Collective has recently formed and is working to raise $200k to buy the formerly family run movie theater so that it can be kept in use rather then converted into apartments.

This community effort to keep the Rosendale theatre as an educational and artistic venue is an exciting movement. Fundraising is going on now to keep the theater open for movings, music and theatrical events, and to be used during the day for education al experiences through the Childrens Media Project.

What a thoughtful and very welcome thing to see a group with such a clear and great local cause. The movie theatre has been so much for so many. And it's right here in little Rosendale!

Group real estate acquisitions such as this are becoming a more common thing in Ulster County with groups pooling together to invest in farms, income properties, and on non-profit spaces.
