maple syrup time/ Farm journal from Accord
We have been putting the taps in the Maple trees and the sap starts dripping immediatley. The evaporator is just out in the woods and we've been burning the fallen trees limbs that have come down in the high winds. The ratio of sap to syrup is 40-1. Each tree gives a few gallons of sap a day. Boiling off the water will be a continuous for the next week at least.

ready for spring? Easy hoop house for early planting
Building an hoop house at home is a way to start planting early. Serious snow cover might have kept the garden warm or could delay planting. Either way, I found this 1 minute "how-to" video that shows cheap and easy it could be. I'm ready to try it this spring.
